Changing the battery in your smoke detectors is important, but easy to forget. Consider starting a habit of changing the batteries on New Years' Day or some other memorable date. After replacing the battery, make sure to press the test button to ensure that each of your detectors is working properly. If you have a fire system, sometimes your smoke detectors are wired together. In this case, if one is low on battery and starts chirping, one or all of them may start chirping. It might be easier to replace all batteries in this event.
